We have never been ‘salesy’ consultants. That is not to say we have not been successful, but in our experience the vast majority of lawyers will already have fairly clear goals in terms of what they want to achieve by making their next move. Accordingly, an experienced consultant who can open the door to relevant opportunities, act as a bit of a sounding board and assist with interview preparation/offer negotiations tends to be a far more useful asset than a pushy consultant who is simply looking to shoehorn a candidate into a new role.
